The Fews Ensemble invite you to an evening of high voltage String playing!
Principal players, Joanne, Rose and Jonathan are thrilled to welcome back violinist Mia Cooper after the success of our String Sextet concert together last February. On offer is Schubert’s iconic String Quartet No. 14 in D minor, Death and the Maiden which is one of the most beloved pillars of the chamber music repertoire. It is a dark stormy work interspersed with moments of the most exquisite beauty imaginable.
We also explore some rarely performed yet masterful gems for Quartet including two profoundly beautiful elegies by Puccini and Nielson and a lesser known String Quartet by German composer and student of Beethoven, Ferdinand Ries.
