About the concert
NCM is delighted to present the Irish premiere of this stunning production of Close to You.
The concert is a celebration of both Frank Sinatra and his principal arranger Nelson Riddle. Some 60 years after it’s first release ‘Close to you’ remains a beloved and timeless Sinatra album. Drawing on the traditions of both classical music and jazz, Riddle’s arrangements incorporated the famous Hollywood String Quartet who were the foremost string players of their time in LA. Tonight, the Tippett Quartet take on that role and are joined by some of London’s leading jazz players in the form of the James Pearson Quintet with Geraldine O’Doherty on harp. Sensational vocalist Matt Ford, widely regarded as the finest big band singer in the UK, takes centre stage for what promises to be an unforgettable evening.
